the amazing story mode! What did 4 take out practically? The story mode! Tekken 6's story mode sucks, and street fighter 4 bored me as well despite it being a good fighter like the games named above.īasically, I think the reason why I like older fighting games is that there's either a more arcade feel, quick matches one after another that aren't frustrating, or there's a great story mode that games weeks to go through.

I think the problem is an unfun story mode. and that IGN's 8.8 was an absurdly high score? Thoughts? Did anyone actually like this? Did anyone else realize what I did. Sure the fighting mechanics are different, but if I'm disgusted by what I'm seeing around me, by the long load times, and a story mode that can put me to sleep in an hour, who cares? Without that you have something that really doesn't hold a candle to the competition. Remember when Soul Calibur came out? Remember when Dead or Alive on the Xbox came out? Heck, remember when the first Tekken and Virtua Fighters came out? They were all revolutionary for their time. The only thing that has ever made these games interesting besides playing with a friend was the state of the art graphics that you could show off to your friends and watch as you both drooled at it's prettiness. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but last I checked fighting games, like most arcade racers, have little depth. Again, Virtua Fighter 5 might not be the most realistic look in the world, but it's STILL a technical achievement 2 years from it's release. what about the environments? Nope! Flat textures, bad flat lighting and virtually no bump mapping makes this look like a high resolution game ported from the last generation of consoles. So the characters aren't the best you say, who cares. I think I last saw this graphical trick back on the PS2! How amazing! The best Tekken 6 has is a horrible texture for fur that has a semi-transparent texture on top to give the illusion of having depth from really far away, and making it look like crap up close. Virtua Fighter 5 had realistic hair and fur on clothing. that old fighter that came out in 2008? Yea, my jaw was on the floor watching it after having played Tekken 6. After playing this, and the arcade mode, I booted up Virtua Fighter 5. Basically, you're disappointed before you even get to play! And I'm not being harsh here. It simply shows off the horrible graphics for 30-40 minutes before you get to play anything. Their choice to use high quality CGI graphics, then thrust you into more events with in game graphics that you can't control that could have easily been rendered in CGI as well was horrible. 2 more minutes of loading time later, 15 more seconds of cinema. Sometimes in the story the loading would come up only after 15 seconds of IN GAME graphics cinema. Sure enough, the times I DID play in the story mode felt like a horrible tacked on mini game that led to infuriating instances of not being able to see my own character in a sea of bad guys with one of the worst 3d roaming and lock-on mechanics ever made for a set of controls that were honestly meant for 1 on 1 fighting.
#TEKKEN 6 HISTORY MODE TV#
Even my wife, who usually is on her netbook totally unbothered with the games on the TV in the background said "this is so annoying, when do you actually play? Have you done anything since you put the CD (aww how cute.) in?". The graphics are HORRIBLE.įor a slightly more in-depth look, the story mode goes oooon and oooon and ooon and you haven't even done anything.
